IN MEMORY OF MARGARET D. F. MAHAN (1933-2018)
Swan Isle Press honors here the memory of Margaret Mahan. Margaret was the first member of the Swan Isle Press Editorial Advisory Board. Margaret was the managing editor of The University of Chicago Books Division for many years and was recognized for playing a significant role in The University of Chicago Press’s history and success. Her work on the 15thedition of The Chicago Manual of Style was heroic, and her impact is still felt today in the CMS 17th edition, the bible for editors and authors. I had the privilege, honor, and immense pleasure of working with Margaret on Swan Isle Press books. Margaret was my teacher who had great patience with her student. She was my mentor and dear friend. She loved literature and language and understood on the deepest levels the significance and care of words and ideas, and that books were more than physical objects. Margaret Mahan cared deeply about humanity, a woman of valor. — David Rade
